The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), located in downtown Chicago, seeks a Director of Public Policy to provide leadership in developing, advising, and advancing the public policy interests of IALD globally.
Qualifications for the position include: a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, graduate degree preferred; 7+ years of significant professional experience in public policy advocacy, public policy research and analysis, and coalition building; demonstrated skill and comfort in building relationships with diverse audiences; experience working within the non-profit sector, with associations preferred; and comfort working cross-culturally. Also required are excellent writing, speaking and analytical skills; ability to effectively work with and through committees to accomplish projects and goals; and the ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner. In addition, the successful candidate must have strong self-motivation; the ability to work successfully and independently with minimal supervision and tight deadlines; excellent attention to detail; willingness to travel up to 50 % time; and proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as the ability to use social media effectively.
