The American Chemical Society is looking for a Senior Modeler to join their Membership & Society Services division.
The Senior Modeler is responsible for conducting modeling projects, which may include, but are not limited to designing and developing models for likelihood to renew models, as well as driver’s analyses for programs, products and services. In addition, the Senior Modeler supports researchers with data query and access functions for the data store, association management system, registration system, and other systems, as well as support the Membership & Society Services team with desired analytics, reporting, and data visualization capabilities. The position provides evidence-driven decision support for M&SS division’s strategic plan/objectives and works collaboratively across the ACS enterprise.
Utilize data mining and statistical techniques to help develop analytic insights, sound hypotheses, and informed recommendations
Complete modeling tasks in accordance with generally-accepted modeling practices
Apply understanding of relevant business context to properly interpret model results
Conduct ad hoc quantitative analyses, modeling, or programming using SPSS, SAS, SQL, R, or Python
Conduct analyses such as descriptive statistics, significance testing, and correlation
Support researchers by accessing, querying, and obtaining sample lists, cleaning and applying suppression for survey data files
Own and maintain the Society’s data dictionary and keep up to date with IT’s published data models
Keep internal clients abreast of project status, changes and anticipating their project needs
Ensure timeliness (e.g., manage project schedules by outlining project timelines and overseeing vendor contracts, budgets and deliverables)
Ensure quality and document model deliverables
Serve as a point of contact with external research vendors, partners, and/or individual consultants to drive and facilitate the model development
8+ years of professional experience in business intelligence, market research, operations research
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools
Strong orientation to quantitative, data-driven analysis using stats packages such as SAS (modeler, statistics, text analytics); STATA; or SPSS; MATLAB;
Understanding of SQL database, Relational Database, Unstructured Data
Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to identify process improvement opportunities
Advanced knowledge of statistics
Advanced machine learning/natural language processing NLP techniques and algorithms using R, Python (a plus)
