The American Physical Society's Office of Government Affairs is looking for a confident, smart, solutions-oriented Administrator to direct the positive outcome of all projects, initiatives, and strategic activities being pursued by a hard-working team of policy professionals.
APS is the nation's leading organization of physicists, with approximately 55,000 members in academia, national laboratories and industry. The APS Office of Government Affairs (OGA) facilitates communication between physicists, the public, and government on scientific issues of concern to APS members and the nation as a whole.
As the OGA Administrator, you'll be involved in every aspect of the day-to-day functions of a dynamic team. Responsibilities vary from managing committee work, to overseeing office budgets, to strategizing new pathways for continued success with the APS Chief Government Affairs Officer. You will coordinate meetings on Capitol Hill, interact with esteemed member volunteers, network with all APS department staff, and become a point-person within the society for government affairs-related questions, events, and activities. You will work directly with the APS Chief Government Affairs Officer, Manager of Science Policy, Manager of Grassroots Advocacy, and Press Secretary on a daily basis. 4-year degree required, 5+ years association/government affairs experience preferred.
The APS OGA is located in the heart of Washington, DC, just blocks from the White House and Capitol Hill in the historic National Press Building. The office location offers access to Metro, great dining and retail shopping, as well as access to the National Press Club and an on-premises gym, cafe, restaurant and business center.
4-year degree required, 5+ years association/government affairs experience preferred.
